It was success all round for the Kirkham Grammar School Cross Country runners at the Fylde and Wyre Championships held at Rossall School last Tuesday.
The 1st Year runners lead the way with KGS’ Talia Armstead racing home first for the team in 5th place. Talia was backed up superbly by her team mates Bo Madden, Hattie Madden, Amy Merrick and Danny Merrick who all finished close together in 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th place. Such great results meant that the team finished in first place overall with all five runners being selected to represent the county in February.
The 2nd and 3rd year’s race was fantastic! In tough conditions a field of 65 runners set off disappearing out of sight but it wasn't long before they emerged with Darcey Lonsdale leading the way, finishing in 1st place overall. Lucy Treaddell came in next, finishing in 2nd place and Caity Preddy in 3rd place, simply amazing! It was up to the rest of the team now to pack in as closely as possible. Emma Savidge appeared first finishing in 13th place and Hannah Doyle in 25th. Once again the team reigned victorious with the first three runners being selected to represent the county in February.
In the final race Ella Dowds was the only KGS runner due to the middle school mock examinations. Ella certainly did not disappoint! She ran her own race and finished streets ahead of the field finishing in 1st place overall.
A great day and great results from an outstanding KGS team.
