Kirkham Grammar School certainly had a lot to celebrate during this morning’s final assembly before we break up for the Easter holidays tomorrow. There were many achievements across all areas of school life including Sport (Rugby, Hockey, Swimming and Athletics), Music and Drama (Lytham St Anne’s Performing Arts Festival and Rotary Music Competition), Duke of Edinburgh, BBC Young Reporter, and academic achievements in Science, Computing and Mathematics. Congratulations to Seb Roche, Josh Baxter and Will Kollard who were presented with the Chemistry RSC Olympiad Silver award, an award that is only presented to the top 30% of pupils in the country. The Oxford University Computing Challenge 2019 saw KGS pupils achieve 13 passes, 9 merits and 3 distinctions. During the distinction award presentation, a record number of distinctions were presented with Mr Berry also presenting a platinum certificate to First Year pupil, Alexa Anderson, the first pupil to have ever been presented with this so early in the academic year. This morning’s assembly certainly showcased our aim to educate the whole child. Congratulations to all of our prize winners.
