Twin brothers, Daniel and William Carroll, attended Kirkham Grammar School between September 1982 and July 1989. They both entered Oxford in 1989 to study medicine. Daniel at Magdalen and William at Queens College & Green College and both completed their clinical studies at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
After training as Junior doctors they progressed as registrars and consultants. Daniel is a paediatric surgeon and William is a paediatric physician.
Daniel emigrated to Australia with his family in 2012 to take the post of Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Townsville Hospital. He has recently been appointed Associate Professor in Paediatric Surgery at James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland.
William is Consultant Paediatrician at UHNM Clinical Academic lead in Paediatric Respiratory medicine, Postgraduate tutor (part time) and Honorary Reader (Academic & Clinical lead for respiratory paediatrics) at Keele University School of Medicine, Editor in Chief of Paediatrics and Child Health and co-author of the Illustrated Textbook of Paediatrics, Chair of MRCPCH Theory Examinations Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. He is married and resides in Staffordshire.
During recent communication with us here at KGS, Mr and Mrs Carroll said, "We are incredibly proud of both of our sons achievements and feel that Kirkham Grammar gave them a good basis on which to build their futures."
