U12s v Bablake & King Henry VIII School
The Under 12 squad travelled to a very frosty Stafford RUFC on Saturday. Despite the cold conditions, they handled and passed the ball with much skill. Kirkham had the edge out wide with Junior Lavelle, in particular, enjoying a great deal of possession. Kirkham scored six tries in total to run out convincing winners, amongst the scorers were Harry Lawson (2), Torrin Anderson and Charlie Robinson (2) who controlled the backs well, making some telling breaks to set up some potent attacks throughout the game.
Lancashire U13s Festival - Thursday 26 January 2023
On Thursday 26 January, a 21-man U13s squad travelled to Preston Grasshoppers RFC to take part in the County Festival. Over the day KGS played five games, winning three which included a good victory against Lancaster RGS in the playoff final. Having a much larger squad than any other school, it was great to see all the boys represent the school so well.

Kirkham Grammar School U13s hosted St Mary's, Stonyhurst and Liverpool College on the I XV pitch. KGS knew this was going to be a tough set of fixtures given the fact that both sides ended up contesting the final at the County Festival. The side, led by the inspirational Jonty Faith, first played Liverpool College, and from minute one took the game to their much larger opposition. Seb Clarke and Dylan Burrows carried extremely well with excellent supporting play from Will Davies. Finn Webster and Oliver Hartley-Pagnillo were pulling the strings well at 9-10 with Ziad Hassan causing mayhem in the outside channel. It was some clever play from Hartley-Pagnillo whose cross-field kick to Jack Gillett sealed the victory 3 tries to 1.
In the second game against Stonyhurst, KGS lifted themselves further and controlled the game. Jack Kelso showing great skills at the breakdown and Karter Virdee with some strong runs. Max Nuttall and Harry Peter's physicality in defence was phenomenal. KGS continued to steadily keep the scoreboard ticking over and despite a conciliation try, Kirkham ran out 4-1 winners.
