As part of this week's World Book Day 2023 celebrations, we welcomed talented author, Matt Oldfield, to school. Bestselling author of Unbelievable Football (winner of the 2020 Children's Sports Book of the Year award) and one half of the brothers behind the Ultimate Football Heroes and Classic Football Heroes book series, Matt visited KGS to talk to our First and Second Year pupils about his love of writing from a young age whilst at school, becoming an author and why he enjoys writing books about football in particular. Matt's books are fun, action-packed biographies that tell the exciting life of the world's greatest footballers, from Maradona to Messi, from Beckham to Kane, and are very popular in school with our football-loving pupils. The visit was an excellent opportunity to promote reading and writing for pleasure. Matt happily signed books which were either the pupils own books or had been purchased on the day. Our Third Year pupils also enjoyed a creative writing session with Matt in the KGS Library.
