Late last night, forty-four Kirkham Grammar School pupils from Second Year to Fifth Year returned from a four day tour in northern France and Belgium, visiting the cities of Lille, leper (Ypres) and Boulogne-sur-Mer, as well as some smaller, very beautiful villages along the way. During their travels, the pupils and staff visited Lille Zoo, the WWI graves of Tyne Cot and Essex Farm, Nausicaá - the largest aquarium in Europe, a bee museum and an artisan chocolate factory.
The pupils also had the opportunity to sample some local food, including Flammkeuches, Gauffres and most importantly, Chocolat!
The particular highlights were the bee museum, which gave the pupils a real buzz! The most poignant moment was Mrs Atkinson's talks at the two cemeteries, and the respect that our KGS pupils showed at during the visit to the individual graves was touching and the staff are very proud of each and every one of our pupils during this visit.
À la prochaine fois!
