Kirkham Grammar School is delighted to announce that we have appointed Mr Tallan Gill as our new Head with effect from September 2024.
Mr Gill is currently Deputy Head at The King's School, Chester and responsible for the day to day running of the Senior School which also incorporates a busy co-curricular programme.
Mr Gill's family hails from Cornwall and he is very proud of his Cornish and Welsh roots. He attended school in South Wales before playing professional rugby at both club and international level. He attended university in Manchester where he also completed his PGCE. He has since undertaken an MA in both Leadership (Sport and Culture) and Educational Leadership.
His teaching career began at Wimbledon College where he undertook a variety of leadership roles over a 12 year period. He was subsequently appointed as Director of Sport at Latymer Upper School where he spent nine years before a brief stint as Housemaster at Reading Blue Coat School.
Mr Gill will initially live in the Boarding House to immerse himself in boarding life, thus allowing him to gain a deeper insight into the boarding provision at Kirkham Grammar School. Mr Gill's wife and three children, along with their Fox Red Labrador, will remain in Chester until their eldest child completes her studies for her GCSE examinations.
Speaking of his appointment, Mr Gill said, "I am proud and excited to become the next Head at Kirkham Grammar School and have been really impressed with the school's family ethos. It is clearly a special place to be and I look forward to meeting all associated with the school and building on Kirkham's strong history and heritage."
We are very much looking forward to welcoming both Mr Gill and his family to our wonderful school and eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will bring to Kirkham Grammar School.
