Athletics Championships
On Tuesday 30th January KIRKHAM GRAMMAR JUNIOR SCHOOL travelled to Wigan Indoor Arena to take part in the Association of Junior Independent Schools Indoor Athletics Championships.
With twenty-seven schools from throughout the North West participating, involving over 650 athletes – this was their biggest event ever! The U10 and U11 boys and girls teams had trained extremely hard in the build up to this annual event and had very competitive matches against Preston Harriers and Lytham Athletic club as preparation. However, never in our wildest dreams did we expect to achieve such success and produce our best ever performance at these very prestigious championships.
At the end of 5 hours of competition KGJS won: 14 golds, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals! Furthermore, we set 3 new AJIS records!
