On Thursday 22 March, the J3 and J4 children went over to Summerlee Hall to watch the KGS production, ‘Famous and Forgotten’, the story of the Dick, Kerr Ladies’ Football Team. The cast retold the story of a group of women from Preston who contributed so much to the war effort through fundraising for injured soldiers by playing football. After World War I, in 1921, the FA decided to ban women from playing football in an official capacity. For this reason, the success of this early Preston team has, for many years, been forgotten. It was wonderful to see so many of our former KGJS pupils taking part. Well done to the cast, who retold this unique story superbly.
