Every year during one week in November, Kirkham Grammar School enter all of our First, Second and Third Year pupils, as well as our GCSE and A Level Computer Scientists, into the Bebras Computational Thinking Competition.
17 of our First, Second and Third Year pupils achieved gold certificates which means they were placed in the top 10% of pupils entered in their age group.
First Year pupil, Henry, missed out just one question, to achieve an incredible score of 188/200. Out of the 117, 464 pupils who entered in the junior age group – only 99 achieved full marks with the mean score being 81. So this is an amazing achievement.
The pupils have now been invited to take part in the Oxford University Computing Challenge week commencing Monday 15 January 2024.
We wish them all the very best in the next competition – please speak to your computing teacher and prepare for the next challenge!
