Kirkham Grammar School is not a boarding school; it is a day school with a boarding facility. It is also quite unique! We believe that Kirkham Grammar School is the only independent school in the country with just one, single co-educational boarding house that caters for pupils between the ages of 11 and 18.
We are able to accommodate approximately 90 pupils comfortably and the demand for places from both UK and international pupils is high. We therefore suggest that families register early to express their interest.
The Boarding House is a pupil-centered environment which runs in comparison to a normal family home. Our main priorities are safety, happiness and social/academic success. An ongoing programme of refurbishment ensures that it is a real ‘home from home’ experience.
All boarders are provided with a study facility and they are actively encouraged to personalise their rooms as they so wish. We are a safe, caring and happy community for pupils to benefit from the excellent education that Kirkham Grammar School has to offer. The Boarding House has a most distinctive atmosphere, felt by all who visit and is run by a team of experience and dedicated staff. Boarding House Prefects are chosen each year to assist staff in the general day to day running of the House. The House Captains work with staff to co-ordinate much of this work and senior pupils are given the opportunity to develop managerial and leadership skills which are so vital for success later in life.
