Theatre Studies is taught to A Level. In addition, large numbers of our pupils avail themselves of private tuition leading to LAMDA awards and the school boasts a strong and successful public speaking society.

The school is fortunate to have available a diversity of spaces for dramatic productions, including a drama studio, a marvellous oak panelled old hall, equipped with lighting and capable of being set up as theatre in the round, and a large multi-purpose hall, which can seat some 700 people and offers an expansive stage, with the space and facilities to produce large scale musicals. The annual school production is always eagerly awaited, the Junior Drama Festival thoroughly enjoyed and the House Drama Festival keenly contested. Other events, such as the recent Medieval Pageant, are organised during the course of the year, along with regular excursions in large and small groups to theatres as far apart as London, Stratford, Manchester and Blackpool. Theatrical work is of real importance to us at Kirkham Grammar School and its range is impressive. Recent productions have included classical and modern works, musicals and light opera, dance and shows which arise from improvisation.
