KGS vs Sedburgh 5-0 Win
An all-round fantastic team performance from KGS, tournament winners!
After a change in the programme, Kirkham were now facing KM for their first game. The game started and it was very even, KM was quick to close down the ball and applied a lot of pressure to KGS. However, KGS battled well and started to work and move for each other. After a slow first half KGS stepped up and scored. The girls now had momentum and managed to finish the game with a 3-1 win. Kirkham were now in their stride and were on straight away for the next game against Sheffield High.
KGS knew they had to win this match in order to reach the finals to go through to the next round. Sheffield battled well but KGS looked strong and finished their chances. During the game injuries occurred but the girls covered the positions needed exceptionally well and worked for each other. They managed to maintain this high standard throughout the game and secured a 3-0 win!
KGS were now group B winners and were through to the play offs for the North round. The girls knew they had to secure the win. Kirkham had drawn Sedbergh and the girls were nervous but excited for the game. Straight away KGS attacked well and scored an early goal from a short corner. Kirkham looked dangerous and had majority of the possession going forward. KGS managed to secure another goal and were producing some fantastic runs and attacking play. After numerous chances and a fantastic level of effort from every player on the pitch, KGS managed to secure a fantastic 5-0 win!
KGS improved as the tournament progressed and they showed their true potential of what they are capable of. We look forward to the North finals on the 21st November.
