KGJS U11 boys took part in the North of England Hockey Finals, Leeds yesterday. In the three group stage, Kirkham played really well, winning every game. The results were as follows: v Cundall won 3-0 (Dylan (2) and William), v Manchester Grammar School won 3-2 having been 2-0 down! (Harry (2) and Dylan), v Kilham School won 3-0 (Dylan (2) and Harry ),
In the semi-final, KGJS played St Olaves from York and won 2-0 (William and Harry ).This set up a final between Kirkham and Kings School Chester, whom Kirkham had narrowly beaten in the AJIS tournament earlier in the year. KGJS knew it would be a tough game and were not mistaken, soon finding themselves 2-0 down. The boys rallied and produced a number of scoring opportunities but couldn’t score, eventually losing the final 3-1 with a goal scored by Harry Marsh.
Congratulations to Kings were deserved winners, however, Kirkham played excellent hockey throughout the tournament.
Well done to you all; Michael , Jenson , Bertie , Alex , Freddie , Christian, Dylan , William and Harry (Captain). Runners up in the North of England is quite an achievement!
