New Sports appointment at Kirkham Grammar Junior, Infant & Pre-School...
We are delighted to announce we will welcome Mr Chris Briers as our new PE/Games teacher after the February half term break.
"Born into a sporty family, I was introduced to sport at a very early age. Both my father and brother played rugby and then I followed suit at 5 years old, joining the local club, West Park. Throughout my early school years, I developed a passion for all sports and competed in everything I possibly could. As I grew older, I specialised in rugby, which led me to joining Kirkham Grammar School in 2000. After finishing my time at KGS, I joined Sale Sharks for two years before playing rugby at a selection of Championship level clubs. Whilst playing rugby at this level, I gained my degree in Religion and Theology at The University of Manchester, and subsequently qualified as a teacher gaining Qualified Teacher Status.
In 2011, I joined AKS School as teacher, before moving to Myerscough College to teach BTEC Sport. Whilst teaching at AKS and Myerscough, I have been a player at Fylde Rugby Club and have recently become joint Head Coach for the National 2 side expanding my expertise in a range of areas.
Through inspirational teaching and coaching, my aim whilst at KGS is to nurture, inspire and enthuse every single girl and boy so that they fulfil their potential and move on to the Senior School with a passion for sport in the same way I did. I look forward to meeting parents and pupils when I start officially after February half termĚŽ.
